LCL Chic Algorithm #5 book selection, supporting local shops and Vogue world

During this time overall, and keeping in mind that this was last month, I’m really recapping what I’ve been seeing on my feed.

I saw a lot of photos from Vogue World. To me, what makes Vogue World so interesting is how different people in fashion, entertainment, beauty, and whatever is defining pop culture right now come together. They’re invited to this formal occasion, but it’s also fun. There’s dancing. There’s singing. There are performances. It really feels like a celebration of culture.

I’ve been watching Vogue World for probably the last two years. I think it’s still relatively new. I pretty much liked what Naomi Osaka wore. Honestly, I was just happy she was there. She has been pulling off nothing but looks lately. You guys already know Law Roach is there styling her. I’ve also just been loving all of the fits she has been putting on and putting together. So, that was definitely delightful to see.

Another thing I’ve been getting more into is books. As I’ve gotten more interested in reading, I’ve personally been reading some new books. Books aren’t really fashion items in the way that you can just collect clothing. But I definitely have the intention of collecting books.

And, you know, I try not to judge a book by its cover. But it has been so entertaining literally judging books by their covers.

I guess I should say why. From a graphic design perspective, I love seeing things like a series of different colored Pantone books. You guys have to think about the fact that I’m also into branding. So, I naturally pay attention to the design.

I really love seeing the evolution over the past few years. Artists have been coming together with writers and designers to create covers that have so much symbolism. Sometimes you wouldn’t even understand what you’re looking at until somebody explains the story or gives you the summary. Then you realize why certain elements were chosen for the cover.

That has been really fun to see.

That’s what I’ve been kind of seeing a lot during this time. Overall, I feel like this is such a good track record for me. I already know I’m going to look back at this a few years from now. I’ll be scrolling through my feed and see a book. Then I’ll be like, “That’s what I want to find.”

And at this time, everything doesn’t have to be so serious. We’re constantly trying to figure out what deserves our immediate attention. We’re figuring out what we should be reading and consuming.

Sometimes you just need to read.

And yes, I know we love to glamorize audiobooks. I love audiobooks too. But there’s something about sitting there with an actual book. Annotating it. Highlighting things. Writing in the margins. Really taking your time with it.

I don’t really talk about reading a lot on my page. It’s honestly just hard to manage sometimes. But I think it’s such a great skill. It can also be a mental detox.

So, I suggested
