Skepta is a global artist, UK rapper, and multi-disciplinary artist. He discussed the frustration of the lack of representation in the fashion industry in streetwear culture featuring kids in the streetwear scene. Even though this progressively shifted over time Skepta wove his Nigerian heritage and British influence into his garments. He says in a past interview with BOF’s Imran Amed “With music, you can actually change the audio after it’s even out, but with clothes you definitely can’t, so until it’s out I’m always changing. I’m always adapting and figuring out.” Skepta Mainline started in June 2017 with the passed down philosophy “ Clothes don’t make the man, the man makes the clothes.”
